You Wanna Buy a Parthenon?

Actually it's free! This OAR file contains terrain modeled on the Athens Acropolis, a model of the Theatre of Dionysus built by me, and a model of the Parthenon built by about 40 8/9th grade students in their geometry class this past October. The models are built to scale, which was the point of having students do it as a geometry activity. The only thing that is way off is the Acropolis itself, which should be about twice as big, but it would have far exceeded the boundaries of a single 256 x 256 meter region.

I'm releasing it with an Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) license. For attribution you can specify "Erik Nauman and The Hewitt School" as the original creators. Only one texture is used aside from the default viewer textures and that is a white marble texture downloaded from CG Textures. The link to the OAR file is here. My students and I would love to hear how anyone uses it, so please leave a comment if you do.
Here's a video of some of the students working.

Hi there,
I have downloaded your great oar file and uploaded it as a Kitely world (www.kitely.com). This means that anyone with a Facebook account (will be extended to twitter and others soon) can visit. If you get a chance do have a look and let me know if you are happy with the description I have used. I have included the link to your blog for more info and the oar file.
You can visit the world by going here http://www.kitely.com/virtualworld/Clare-Atkins/Acropolis . Would be great if your students (and their folks too perhaps) were able to see it :)
Thanks for sharing!

Holy cow, that's the coolest! I've heard of Kitely but haven't tried, so now I'll have a go. Do you think you'll have it up after August? That's when I'll see the students again and can let them know.

Hi Erik, Yes I can leave it up for as long as you like :) It costs very little to keep a Kitely world available and it is great to show others what is possible with virtual worlds.

I just popped in, looks great! Kitely is really amazing, it all just works. I discovered a mistake in the OAR. I left a transparent platform in the middle of the theater. It was for a production students performed and I forgot about it! If you highlight transparent objects you can delete it.
